Good singers like Vera Maria Bitter cannot expect to perform to a sold-out hall even in the “City of Music” Bayreuth—although the two musicians would have deserved it. From the very introit of the three-part song recital, they immediately captivate the audience. This is because the young singer, who made her Bayreuth debut at Steingraeber’s Chamber Music Hall with the program Von ewiger Liebe together with her highly competent accompanist, musical partner, and co-interpreter Elitsa Desseva, would not have needed the overly promotional words in the program notes at all. Certainly, in today’s international concert world of musical talent, one must beat the drum loudly to attract attention; nevertheless, good singers like Vera Maria Bitter cannot expect a full house even in the “City of Music” Bayreuth—despite the fact that the two musicians truly deserved it. From the opening of the three-part song recital onward, they hold the listeners spellbound.
