The Irish baritone David Kennedy and the Bulgarian pianist Elitsa Desseva presented an interesting selection of songs. The program opened with Johannes Brahms’s “Heimweh II,” performed with great sensitivity, followed by “Das eilende Bächlein” by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. With a composition of her own, Elitsa Desseva demonstrated her talent as a composer. “Gift,” written in 2024 to a text by Barbara Kennedy, caught the ear with its unusual piano sounds. Particularly delightful was “Down East” by Charles Ives, performed with great emotion. “Bloody Hands” from *Belfast Confetti* by Greg Caffrey and the famous “Die Mutter Erde” by Franz Schubert concluded this part of the program.
